Wynne paddles closer to medal

Ian Wynne today made his way towards a second medal chance when the British canoeist reached the semi-finals of the Olympic K1 500 metres competition.

On another hot day with temperatures soaring towards 30C he won his heat in a time over half a second faster than reigning world champion Nathan Baggaley of Australia.

There was success, too, for Britain's Lucy Hardy who reached Thursday's semi-finals of the women's K1 500m.
