Wise: Ginola was frustrated

13 April 2012

Former Chelsea captain Dennis Wise believes "frustration" is behind the outburst by David Ginola which could cost him £100,000 in fines and a six-game ban.

Leicester midfielder Wise was on the receiving end of a lunge from Ginola which earned the Aston Villa star a red card for violent conduct and an automatic three-match ban in last Saturday's FA Barclaycard Premiership clash.

The Frenchman's temper boiled over even more as he confronted fourth official Clive Wilkes and tapped him on the side of the head which has prompted the FA to charge him with misconduct.

If found guilty, that is certain to also carry another three-match ban plus a substantial fine to add to the punishment Ginola, who is on a reported £35,000 a week, has already been handed by Villa manager John Gregory.

Wise said: "What upset Ginola? I think there was a lot of frustration in it.

"He was a substitute, had come on and didn't do very well and then I've tackled him and he's lost his temper. It's not like him, but there is a lot of frustration with him at the moment. He has got a lot of problems with what's going on at Villa and it's come out on the pitch."
