Wise charged and ref investigated after Leeds bust-up

13 April 2012

Leeds manager Dennis Wise has been charged with using abusive language towards a match official by the Football Association after the controversial game with Gillingham last Saturday.

The FA have also confirmed they are investigating referee Danny McDermid's conduct.

Leeds had Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford sent off in the 1-1 draw at Priestfield and was then sent to the stands himself by McDermid, who Wise claimed swore at him after the match.

Wise said on Saturday: "The big issue here is that, at the end of the game, the referee has told me to 'f*** off'.

"I think it is totally and utterly unacceptable and we as a club will be reporting him."

An FA statement said: "The charge relates to Wise's conduct towards referee Danny McDermid at half-time during the game against Gillingham on Saturday.

"The FA can confirm that it has received a complaint from Leeds United regarding the conduct of the referee towards Wise after the conclusion of the game. This is now under consideration."
