Willian targets 'seven wins from seven' as Chelsea build for next season
The defending champions have suffered a nightmare campaign following a run of results before the turn of the year which cost Jose Mourinho his job in December.
The Blues, who have not lost a league game under Mourinho's successor Guus Hiddink, are currently 10th in the Premier League with just 41 points, have been eliminated from all cup competitions and are all-but mathematically out of the race for a Champions League berth.
“We know it’s difficult to play when we don’t have titles to win but we have to play,” Willian told Chelsea TV.
“We have to keep going. We have seven games to play. We want to win all seven. We know it’s difficult. I think we have to keep our professionalism till the end.”
The Brazilian was speaking ahead of Chelsea's trip to Aston Villa, meaning he undersetimated the number of games left on Chelsea's calendar this term. After Villa, Chelsea have seven Premier League games and the 27-year-old hopes they can develop a winning habit ahead of next season.
“We want to finish strong to start the next season better,” he added.
Willian has been one of the bright sparks in an otherwise dire season for Chelsea. The Brazilian forward has scored 10 goals and set up six more in all competitions so far.
He is the club’s second-top scorer behind Diego Costa with 15. Willian was not included in Saturday's squad to face Aston Villa due to a minor injury.
