Williamson grabs silver

England archer Alison Williamson had to settle for silver when she was beaten in the final of the women's individual recurve competition by Indian favourite Deepika Kumari.

Williamson, who had beaten another Indian, Dola Banerjee, to make the final, never recovered from losing the first set and was comfortably beaten 6-0.

Williamson's silver medal matches the silver she also took in the team competition, and adds to the bronze she took from the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.

Williamson said: "I think I'm satisfied with silver. I shot as well as I could today and my opponent shot a little better.

"It was much windier out there than it has been so I had to adapt.

"I was very impressed with Indian crowd. It's been a steep learning curve for them but they've really improved.

"They were very respectful out there and it was nice to compete in that atmosphere."
