TV crisis claims Lincoln manager

13 April 2012

Third Division Lincoln today announced they have released manager Alan Buckley from his contract.

The cash-strapped club, who are currently in administration, insist they have made the decision "on purely financial grounds".

A statement on the club's official website read: "This decision has been made on purely financial grounds based on advice given by Begbies Traynor, who are guiding the club in this crisis period.

"The club wishes to express their gratitude to Alan for his work over the last 14 months and for his professional approach, honesty and integrity in that time."

The club will make an announcement on Buckley's replacement when the club's financial situation becomes more clear, with director of football Keith Alexander taking charge of football matters for now.

It appears Buckley has fallen victim to the new financial climate surrounding lower league clubs following the collapse of ITV Digital.

Torquay blamed cash problems when they released manager Roy McFarland earlier this week.
