13 April 2012

Britain's triathlon performance director says tomorrow's World Championships Series race in Hyde Park is a key stepping stone towards the 2012 London Olympics.

Heather Williams wants to field a six-strong team at the Games, with every athlete harbouring genuine medal ambitions.

"The London race couldn't have come at a better time because next week is two years until the Games," said Williams.

"An event in the heart of London is always going to be a huge. We are starting to talk about preparing for what is going to be the biggest event ever staged in the UK, especially for triathlon."

Alistair Brownlee, the reigning world champion and, heads the home challenge in the race, which will cover most of the 2012 course.
