Tottenham unveil plans for 60,000-seater stadium

Tottenham have today released initial plans for their new 60,000-seat stadium that they hope to build on their existing site at White Hart Lane.

The Northumberland Development Project, which will have a consultation process with residents before planning permission is applied for, would also require the removal of two listed buildings and will mean the club play in the new stadium before it is completed.

Spurs, who hope to receive the green light for the rebuild next year, are confident the benefits of the new stadium would outweigh any opposition to the removal of the buildings.

The club have also revealed the companies involved in the plans, including designers KSS, who worked on the City of Manchester Stadium, and Buro Happold, who are involved in the London 2012 Olympic Stadium.

The cost of the project is estimated to be in the region of the £400million Arsenal spent on Emirates Stadium and it could take up to five years to complete.

As the plans (above) for the new ground show (1), once finished it will include what the club term important public space (2) for match-day activities; new offices (3) for use by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation; club museum (4); supermarket (5); 500 new homes (6) and improvements to the High Road (7).

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: "We believe that this scheme has the potential to create a truly inspirational environment for the club and the community as well as acting as the catalyst for the uplift of the wider area."

The plan also claims that the "transport infrastructure is already in place" around White Hart Lane and is able to cope with 90,000 passengers an hour on match days.

PHASE ONE: New stadium build commences to the north of the existing ground. The stadium remains in use at full capacity.

PHASE TWO: Out of season, the North Stand of the existing stadium is demolished and the new pitch is laid.

PHASE THREE: The partially-completed new stadium is in use for one season. The remainder of the existing stadium is demolished.

PHASE FOUR: Out of season, the remainder of the new stadium is completed, ready for the start of the following season.
