Great Britain face a tricky Fed Cup tie after being drawn away to Romania in April.

The hosts are likely to be spearheaded by world No4 Simona Halep in the World Group II Play-Off, a step-up from Britain’s opponents in Estonia last week.

Confidence is high in the British camp, though, after four wins from four ties against Latvia, Turkey, Portugal and Croatia, which pushed them into the play-off stage and one win away from climbing up to the competition’s second tier.

Captain Anne Keothavong will be hopeful of again selecting from Johanna Konta, Heather Watson and Laura Robson, a luxury her predecessor Judy Murray never had.

GB had been hoping for a first home tie for 24 years but the wait goes on with a trip to seeded Romania — who boast two other top-40 players in Irina-Camelia Begu and Monica Niculescu — now on the cards for the tie on April 22-23 following this morning’s draw in London.
