Team involvement 'unthinkable' - Inzy

12 April 2012

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and assistant coach Mushtaq Ahmed were on Saturday questioned by police investigating the murder of Bob Woolmer.

Jamaican police had already taken DNA samples and fingerprints from all Pakistan players as part of their investigation into Woolmer's death.

The Pakistan team were due to fly home this evening but Inzamam and Mushtaq were required to complete formalities by police before leaving.

Pakistan coach Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room last Sunday morning after being strangled.

Yesterday detectives said that Woolmer, 58, probably knew his killer - or killers - as there was no sign of forced entry into his room and there has been much speculation over a possible motive.

Inzamam, after being questioned further by police today, said it was "absolutely unthinkable" that any of the team or management were involved in the death of Woolmer.

Inzamam told Sky News: "It's absolutely unthinkable. I can't think like this. Someone who thinks like this is a joke."

Asked what he thought had happened, Inzamam added on Sky News: "I don't know but someone who think team and management (were involved) are crazy. The last three years we were working together and have a good relationship."
