Surrey's new bid to rebuild Oval

Brian Scovell13 April 2012

Surrey are to launch another bid to increase the capacity of The Oval to 25,000 within three years.

Lambeth Council's planning committee meet next Tuesday and the club wants the goahead for an £18 million redevelopment at the Vauxhall End.

The local council and the Duchy of Cornwall, who own the g round, have opposed radical changes in the past but regeneration of the area has encouraged Surrey to have another go.

The present capacity at The Oval is 18,500 and Surrey had to reject £2.2m in ticket business following the last nPower Test in the Ashes series.
