Luke Campbell is a British boxer who came into the London 2012 games tipped for gold. Here are his vital statistics.

Luke began boxing aged 11, when he joined a gym in Hull with his brother Kane.

He cites his sporting inspirations as Muhammed Ali and Roy Jones.

At 15 Campbell won his first senior ABAE Championship and at 19 he joined the Team GB boxing squad.

His biggest disappointment was missing out on the Beijing 2008 Olympics to  to Joe Murray.

Campbell’s considered to be a knock out and his good looks saw him photographed by Peter Lindebergh for style bible Vogue. He says: “Keeping well groomed is a big part of my routine.”

In 2009, he was named amateur Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Club of Great Britain.

Campbell suffered a setback at the end of 2009 when a hand injury prevented him from competing for 10 months.

After a run of 23 unbeaten bouts in 2010, GB Boxing’s Performance Director described him as the “benchmark” for the rest of squad.

Campbell clinched his place in the London 2012 Games after winning bantamweight silver at the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Campbell became the first British boxer to secure himself a medal at the London 2012 Games after beating Bulgaria's Detelin Dalakliev. He said: “It feels fantastic to guarantee a medal.”
