Simmons: Flintoff can be captain

Andrew Flintoff remains the "obvious choice" to replace Michael Vaughan as England Test captain, according to Lancashire chairman Jack Simmons.

The 30-year-old, currently out with an ankle injury, has slipped down the pecking order of possible future England skippers in the previous year following questions of his leadership in last winter's disastrous Ashes tour and the 'Fredalo' affair in the World Cup.

"Freddie was unfairly penalised for the pedalo incident when others were involved, two of them coaches," he told the Mail on Sunday. "When Vaughan finishes, he will be the obvious choice to take over."
