Serena: US Open is my target

Serena Williams has withdrawn from the Canadian Open in Montreal but promised she would be fit to defend her US Open title.

The American world No1 has acute left knee tendonitis and was replaced in the draw by compatriot Meilen Tu.

Williams said: "I'm confident that I'll be able to compete and perform in two weeks."
