Mike Brown has been ruled out of England’s clash with Ireland on Sunday and Saracens Alex Goode will take over the No15 jersey for a match between the only unbeaten teams in the Six Nations.
Brown woke up today with a headache which means he has to start the return to play protocol again following his concussion against Italy. Goode has been in outstanding form for Saracens and his return should ensure England’s ability under the high ball is not affected.
Andy Farrell, the England backs coach, said:” Mike woke up this morning not feeling 100 percent and the right and proper thing is to make the call now so everyone knows where they are. He has time to get himself right.
“Mike has been in fantastic form and stands up in pressure situations but Alex has been waiting for this chance and has been exceptional for Saracens in the recent games against Munster and Clermont Auvergne.
“There will be a lot of hype and tension about this game and we need to be at the level or even above where we were against Wales in Cardiff.”
Jack Nowell will replace Johnny May on the England left wing which means the team has seen two changes to their key back three defenders who will face a kicking bombardment from the Irish half backs.
