Captain signs on at London Skolars

2 October 2013

London Skolars are delighted to announce that captain Dave Williams has re-signed with the club and will lead the team in 2014.

The 6ft 7ins prop joined the club from London Broncos in 2011 and has now made 59 appearances for Skolars. Next year will be his third season as captain.

Skolars head coach Joe Mbu believes Williams committing himself to the club for another season is vital as he assembles his squad for the 2014 Championship campaign.

"Dave is a very important player for us," Mbu said. "He had an outstanding season and was consistent. He takes the ball up well and makes the tackles. I believe his work rate goes unnoticed. As I assemble my squad for next season it was vital to get Dave on board. The players respect him and he’s a great influence in the dressing room."

Williams, 26, was equally delighted at the prospect of leading the team in 2014.

He said: “I signed last year as I believed Joe was assembling a squad capable of challenging for promotion. We came close and we were all hugely disappointed to not make the Grand Final. I’ve signed again as I am enjoying my rugby here and I know we’ll be back next year, stronger than before, and making a real push for promotion”.
