Rovers agree Simpson loan

12 April 2012

Blackburn have agreed to sign Manchester United full-back Danny Simpson on a one-year loan.

The 21-year-old played eight times for the Red Devils last term, including two Champions League appearances, but ended the season loaned out to Ipswich.

He looked unlikely to enjoy better first-team prospects this season, with United captain Gary Neville back in contention after injury and he now has the chance to prove himself in the Barclays Premier League with Rovers.

Blackburn boss Ince, having already brought in goalkeeper Paul Robinson and Carlos Villanueva since joining from MK Dons, is looking to continue his restructuring of a squad he inherited from new Manchester City boss Mark Hughes.

He told the club's official website, www.rovers.co.uk: "There's another couple of targets we are looking at and we hope to bring them through the door in the next couple of weeks."

Former Rovers player Bobby Mimms has also agreed to return to the club as goalkeeping coach.

Mimms spent six years with Blackburn between 1990 and 1996 and has now agreed to return after being on the coaching staff with Wolves for the last seven years.
