Liverpool new boy Christian Poulsen has admitted there is a real crisis at Anfield.

The Reds lie in the Barclays Premier League relegation zone following their 2-1 home defeat by Blackpool at the weekend. It was their third defeat in their opening seven games, in which they have won just once.

Poulsen, a summer signing from Juventus, was quoted as saying by the Sun: "There is a lot of talk about a crisis at Anfield, especially after the Blackpool defeat, and it is difficult to argue with it."

He added: "Liverpool are a big club and should be taking three points against sides like Blackpool and Sunderland, particularly with home advantage.

"But we only managed one point from the two games, and that shows we are in a big crisis."
