Poll's card tips for Sven

13 April 2012

Sven-Goran Eriksson will meet England's World Cup referee Graham Poll this week to help his England squad avoid cards and suspensions at the tournament, the FA confirmed today.

And the England coach will be told how FIFA are considering the introduction of video evidence this summer in a clampdown on diving.

Poll was one of 72 match officials attending a seminar in Seoul last month to receive instruction on how the world governing body intend the rules to be interpreted.

Eriksson and assistant Tord Grip will welcome his insight on how FIFA plan to cut out diving, which along with drug-taking is one of the main areas being targeted this summer.

FIFA have confirmed video evidence could be used to punish diving missed by the match officials.

A FIFA spokesman said: "It has not been decided, but we may use video evidence."
