Phil saddles up

13 April 2012

London Broncos have appointed former development manager Phil Jones as player performance manager in succession to Dave Rotheram, who joined St Helens as assistant coach at the end of last season.

The news comes after the weekend's 29-10 Powergen Challenge Cup defeat by Wakefield at Griffin Park. Coach Tony Rea blamed torrential rain for the defeat, adding: "We are a better team than that but we didn't handle the conditions. It takes commitment and enthusiasm in weather like that and because we didn't have any we're out of the cup."

Broncos have brought forward their Tetley's Super League home game against Salford City Reds - scheduled for July - to Sunday, 28 March, following both clubs' exit from the Cup.
