Palace give trial to Dutch striker

Crystal Palace manager Trevor Francis, who is keen to strengthen his attacking options, is giving Dordrecht striker Marc De Vries a trial.

De Vries, who has scored 11 goals for the Dutch Division One side this season, has accepted Francis's invitation despite having attracted interest from Spanish and French clubs.

Francis has decided to take a look at the 26-year-old because Scottish striker Dougie Freedman has had a hamstring injury and Trevor Benjamin's loan from Leicester City has only two weeks left to run.
