Novak Djokovic sees red over blue courts

Novak Djokovic criticised the surface after needing three sets to win his first match on the blue clay at the Madrid Open.

The world No1 beat Spain’s Daniel Gimeno‑Traver 6-2, 2‑6, 6-3 but claimed centre court was in a different condition to the practice courts.

“To me that’s not tennis,” said the Serb.

“Either I come out with football shoes or I invite Chuck Norris to advise me how to play on this court.”
