British pair lack spark at Diamond meeting

8 June 2012

Jess Ennis and Mark Lewis-Francis both suffered frustration at last night’s Diamond League meeting in Oslo.

Ennis, appearing in the 100m hurdles, qualified in third place for the final but was shown a red card after a false start.

Sprinter Lewis-Francis was also penalised for a false start, while fellow Brit Marlon Devonish finished sixth in the 100m.

Usain Bolt failed to break the stadium record but won in a time of 9.79 seconds, just ahead of compatriot Asafa Powell, who came second in 9.85 seconds, his best time of 2012.
