Great Britain need US Open champion Andy Murray to end his Davis Cup exile if they are to have any hope of beating former champions Russia in April.

The Russians lifted the trophy in 2006 but lost their place in the elite World Group at the weekend when they were beaten in a play-off in Brazil.

Murray (above) did not play in the Davis Cup this year to concentrate on the Grand Slams and Olympics, where he won gold in the singles.

Britain host the first round of the Europe-Africa Zone I clash and the winners will play off in September for a place in the 2014 World Group.
