O'Neill hails super Celtic

13 April 2012

Martin O'Neill was full of praise for all-conquering Celtic after they recorded their biggest victory at Rangers in 30 years.

Second half goals from Lubo Moravcik, twice, and Henrik Larsson - his 50th of the season - sealed a 3-0 win.

The victory simply confirmed Celtic's total dominance this season over their close rivals.

O'Neill said: "We played very, very well in the second half. We might have been a bit too relaxed at the beginning and the opening 20 minutes belonged to Rangers.

"But from the minute they missed a good chance it spurred us on and galvanised us. We were in total charge of the game.

"There was a 20-minute spell just before half time when we had plenty of possession and knocked it around without having an end product to it.

"That end product came in the second half. The first goal was so important.

"I had hoped it would fall to us as it would have been an uphill battle if we went behind.

"When we got the goal and a great goal it was too from Moravcik I thought Rangers then had to throw caution to the wind and they left a few gaps for us to exploit, which we did.

"In terms of the performance we were absolutely splendid. To win at Ibrox is exceptionally difficult."
