Ntini pace too much for Kiwis

South Africa thrashed New Zealand by eight wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three VB Series Final in Melbourne today.

Chasing New Zealand's 190 all out, South Africa reached the target in 45.1 overs following an unbroken third-wicket stand of 139 between Boeta Dippenaar (79 not out) and Jacques Kallis (59 not out).

New Zealand, 127 for two at one point in their innings, were undone by Makhaya Ntini. The South Africa paceman took five wickets for 31 runs.
