Nationwide apologises for Gunners error

13 April 2012

Nationwide Building Society today apologised for a survey which claimed Arsenal were the most expensive club for fans to support.

The survey, published in good faith by Standard Sport, examined a number of factors including the price of tickets.

However, Nationwide today withdrew the report.

A spokesman said: "The total cost of attending a match at the clubs covered in the study was made up of a number of components, including a match ticket. It has been brought to our attention that the ticket price used for the calculations did not in all cases accurately reflect what is usually paid for by the majority of fans.

"Nationwide acknowledges in particular that the ticket prices used in respect of Arsenal should have been lower. Nationwide acknowledges the importance to the club of their reputation for providing good value for money for their supporters.

"Nationwide apologises for any errors and withdraws the report."
