Murray confident over Nadal clash

Andy Murray is confident he can continue his irresistible run of form at the Australian Open and overcome defending champion Rafael Nadal in their quarter-final clash on Tuesday.

The fifth seed is yet to drop a set as he has marched into the last eight of the seasoning-opening grand slam for the first time. Murray produced his best display yet when he made just eight unforced errors to send 33rd seed John Isner packing 7-6 (7/4) 6-3 6-2 on Sunday.

"I know the match against Rafa is going to be difficult, but I think I can win," he said.

"I think I've got some tactics that work well against him. I'm playing well. There's no question about that. I just need to make sure I play my best."

Nadal's poor recent record against top 10 players would also enthuse Murray.

The Spaniard has won just once in 11 matches against the top bracket since his surprise loss to Robin Soderling at the French Open last year.

The world number two is not concerned by the statistics though, saying: "The numbers are the numbers, so it is probably not the best form of my career against the top 10.

"But I am happy with the draw. The most important thing is I am in quarter-finals and I have only lost two sets.

"Andy is one of the more difficult players to play against. I will have to play my best tennis."
