Murphy misses his mate Jimmy

Sidelined: Jimmy Bullard is unable to face his former club
David Smith13 April 2012

Jimmy Bullard lost a lot of friends at Fulham when he chose to chase a lucrative contract with a £5million move to Hull City rather than remain loyal to the club that had stood by him when he sustained a career-threatening knee injury just over two years ago.

But Danny Murphy remains a friend and the Fulham captain has expressed sympathy for his former midfield partner who misses tonight's Premier League clash at Craven Cottage, and the rest of the season, after undergoing new knee surgery.

Bullard played just 53 minutes for Hull before aggravating the injury and Murphy admitted: "I'm really upset for him. What has happened to him would be bad news for anybody, but more so for him because he's been through a hell of a lot with his knee in the past. I was really gutted for him.

"But I've spoken to Jimmy and he's in good spirits. He'll come back from it like he did last time."
