Murdoch delighted with start

14 April 2012

Stuart Murdoch paid tribute to his young side after a fine 3-1 victory over newly-promoted Crewe Alexandra at Selhurst Park.

Wimbledon, who are still in administration, sold strikers David Connolly and Neil Shipperley during a torrid summer. But the Dons boss was handed a tonic as his side came from a goal behind on Saturday.

Murdoch said: "It has not been easy this summer, twice as difficult compared to last season. But my players have gone out there and put that behind them with a great performance. It was just what we needed."

Dave Brammer gave the visitors the lead with a goal on eight minutes, but superb strikes from Patrick Agyemang, Alex Tapp and new skipper Nigel Reo-Coker on 15, 55 and 62 minutes deservedly earned the Dons all three points.
