Millar out of games

David Millar has pulled out of the British Olympic team after admitting to taking banned drug EPO.

Representatives for the British cycling world champion have issued a statement confirming a decision, which follows his suspension from competition by the British Cycling Federation.

Millar, who will miss the Tour de France, which begins tomorrow, had hoped to contest at least three events, the time-trial and the road race and, on the track, the team pursuit.

Two empty syringes of EPO were found during a search of his home in Biarritz.

He has been investigated as part of the probe into his team, Cofidis.
