McFadden breaks foot
Everton have suffered another injury setback with the news James McFadden has broken a bone in his foot in a freak accident during a game of head tennis in training.
The Scottish international forward left the club's Bellefield training ground on crutches on Wednesday afternoon after suffering the injury to his fifth metatarsal.
It is too early for a full diagnosis or an estimation of how long McFadden will be out, according to the club's official website, www.evertonfc.com.
But the news is a setback for David Moyes' men, who have lost Andrew Johnson for "weeks rather than months" with an ankle injury sustained during Sunday's Barclays Premiership victory at Wigan.
It was initially feared the ankle had been broken following a collision with former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.
But after tests and X-rays at hospital later on Sunday, it was confirmed there had been no break, but more tests were needed to ascertain the exact damage.
McFadden's injury is also a worry for Scotland, who have two significant Euro 2008 qualifying matches in March.
The Group B leaders, currently without a manager after Walter Smith's decision to take over at Bank of Scotland Premier League side Rangers, take on Georgia on March 24, before facing Italy in Bari four days later.
