Target: Daley Blind

Manchester United have been told they must pay “the absolute price” to buy Daley Blind from Ajax this summer, with the Dutch club also confirming no contact had been made by United regarding his availability.

Left-back Blind, 24, played a big role in Louis van Gaal’s Holland side during this summer’s World Cup, helping his country reach the semi-finals.

Even though Manchester United, who were beaten 4-0 by MK Dons in the League Cup on Tuesday night, have already bought two left-sided defenders this window in Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo, the Premier League club have still been linked with Blind, who can also play as a central midfielder.

But according to Marc Overmars, Ajax’s director of football, the Dutch club are extremely keen to keep hold of Blind, and will only enter into transfer negotiations with United if they pay “the absolute price”.

“Daley’s management know how we feel at the moment,” Overmars told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. “Next year we will have a much more lenient policy – we are willing to talk with Daley and we will settle for a reasonable price.

“There are some rumblings around Daley, some clubs enquired, but there is no concrete offer. And with Manchester United, there is no contact at all.”
