Ling's three-match plan

13 April 2012

Martin Ling is still hopeful of being given the Leyton Orient job on a full-time basis.

The caretaker manager's prospects were damaged by Wednesday's 4-1 defeat at Dagenham in the LDV Vans Trophy, but he still has three more games before Orient chairman Barry Hearn makes an appointment.

Ling said: "If I can get two more wins then that will look good. We need an instant reaction. If this becomes an issue and we don't improve then my chances of getting the job are nil."

Ling could replace out-of-form striker Chris Tate with Gary Alexander or Lee Thorpe, while defender Tom Newey (groin) may return. Ling added: "The players were told Wednesday was embarrassing and I named names in the dressing room. They've to go out tomorrow and show what they're made of."
