Lewis Hamilton warns McLaren

13 April 2012

Lewis Hamilton said today he will not quit McLaren providing he has a competitive car.

The 26-year-old's future has been the subject of fierce speculation this week after it emerged he met Red Bull team boss Christian Horner on Saturday in Montreal.

Hamilton's management company, XIX Entertainment, subsequently denied rumours the motivation behind the talks was to discuss a possible move to Red Bull.

The 2008 champion, who has 18 months on his deal with McLaren to run, has also now played down the conversation.

"I've grown up wanting to be world champion and I've definitely not achieved all that I want to in Formula One," said Hamilton. "So definitely "I'll be spending as much time as I can there until I do achieve what I've always wanted to do.

"I'm very fortunate to be a part of McLaren. Apart from Red Bull we are the only other team to win a race this year, so I don't see why you'd particularly want to move when you have the most competitive car."
