Keane fury as Stoke reject Sunderland keeper Fulop to plump for Sorensen

13 April 2012

Roy Keane has accused of acting 'disgracefully' in their handling of the proposed transfer of goalkeeper Marton Fulop.

Rejected: Stoke no longer want Sunderland keeper Marton Fulop

The boss was furious at the way the Hungarian was invited for talks at the Britannia Stadium but then sent back to Wearside as Stoke decided to sign former Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen instead.

Keane said: 'Basically, Stoke wasted the lad's time. They made him an offer. He asked for a bit more and they said "That's it." They disrespected him and I'm not happy with it.

'It was disgraceful to treat him like that. If you go for negotiations, then you have to respect people.'

Keane has opened talks with Celtic defender Bobo Balde after failing in a move for Younes Kaboul.

Celtic have been eager to offload Balde for 12 months while Tottenham's Kaboul is close to joining Portsmouth.

Keane has captured his third Spurs player: French midfielder Steed Malbranque, who signed for £4million to join former team-mates Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio at the club.

Keane made a winning return to Nottingham Forest as Sunderland secured a 1-0 victory thanks to a second-half goal from Kieran Richardson.

Keane refused to take it easy on the club where he began his playing career. He gave debuts to Chimbonda and El Hadji Diouf in a strong side and Tainio earned his second run out in 48 hours, having played against Cobh on Monday.

Of the new boys, Diouf was impressive as Sunderland dominated against an experimental Forest line-up.
