Karlos Dansby packs a punch in record NFL play-off

Triumph: Karlos Dansby scored the match-winning touchdown
13 April 2012

Karlos Dansby scored on a fumble return in overtime to give the Arizona Cardinals a 51-45 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the highest ever scoring NFL play-off game.

The linebacker scooped up the ball and ran 17 yards for the winning touchdown after Michael Adams had jarred it loose from Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the first series of overtime in the NFC wildcard game.

It was an amazing end to a clash, which Arizona had led 17-0 after the first quarter and 31-10 in the third before Rodgers, who threw four touchdown passes, rallied the Packers.

Dansby said: "Before it happened I thought everything is bouncing their way, we got to do something."

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said: "That has to be one of the best play‑off games ever."

Three-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady bowed out of the play-offs with the New England Patriots as they lost 33-14 to the Baltimore Ravens.

The quarterback said: "Playing the way we did today, we weren't going to beat anybody."
