Kallis stars in South Africa win

12 April 2012

Man-of-the-match Jacques Kallis claimed three wickets for as many runs as South Africa sealed a comprehensive 157-run victory against India in the second one-day international in Durban.

All-rounder Kallis, who scored a magnificent 119 not out to help the hosts to a total of 248 for eight earlier in the day, got in on the act with the ball as the tourists were made to rue their decision to bat first at Kingsmead.

Only Sachin Tendulkar (35) provided any notable resistance to an impressive South African seam attack.

Shaun Pollock (two for 17) dismissed Wasim Jaffer before the Indians had a run on the board, and then quickly removed Mohammad Kaif for eight with the score on 39.

Charl Langeveldt's solitary wicket was the crucial dismissal of India skipper Rahul Dravid, who was clean bowled by a ball that nipped back off the seam.

The impressive Andre Nel (four for 13) then accounted for Tendulkar and Suresh Raina, before having the dangerous Mahendra Singh Dhoni caught for 14 runs by wicketkeeper Mark Boucher.

Kallis struck next, quickly removing both Dinesh Mongia and Harbahjan Singh for singles, before Nel produced a vicious delivery that caught Zaheer Khan's outside edge and was pouched by Boucher.

Fittingly it was left to Kallis to finish proceedings when he bowled Ajit Agarkar for six with the first ball of the 30th over.
