Ian Poulter celebrated living up to his nickname by donning a post box costume during Team Europe’s jubilant celebrations at the Ryder Cup.

Poulter has been christened ‘The Postman’ for consistently delivering points for his side in one of golf’s most revered competitions.

The 42-year-old maintained that reputation at Le Golf National on Sunday, beating world number one Dustin Johnson in singles competition to help Europe secure a huge 17½-10½ win.

And amid celebrations that also saw him carrying around teammate Tommy Fleetwood on his shoulders, Poulter pulled on the costume thrown to him by a member of the crowd before promising to frame it.

"I might go and deliver some letters around Lake Nona in it when I get home," Poulter said. "I'm going to frame it."

Also among the celebrations, Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy led ‘thunder clap’ cheers from the 70,000-strong crowd in the French capital.
