I'll prove that Usain Bolt's not invincible, says Asafa Powell

13 April 2012

Asafa Powell is convinced he can beat Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, next season.

Powell's 100metres personal best of 9.72sec is 0.14sec slower than the time his fellow Jamaican set by winning gold at the World Championships in Berlin in August.

But Powell today dismissed claims Bolt is invincible and said: "Usain is the target right now and I'm shooting at him. I know that I can do it."

Powell, Bolt and American Tyson Gay, whose best time is 9.69sec, will meet in the new IAAF Diamond League in 2010.

"I knew 9.5 was possible," Powell added. "I'm not sure if 9.4 is possible but I'm 100 per cent sure that you'll see some very fast times next year."
