Hull storm back to beat Broncos

Hull marched through to the quarter-finals of the Silk Cup Challenge Cup with a 30-20 win over London Broncos.  

However, they gave their coach Shaun McRae a few heart flutters having trailed 16-0 after just 20 minutes.

But in an astonishing six minute period McRae's men transformed the game.

Inspired by home-grown favourite Lee Jackson, Hull struck back with three tries in those six minutes to lead 18-16 at half-time.

McRae revealed afterwards that London had taken their chances and said: "We paid the price for a little impatience but it was no surprise that London were able to capitalise.

"We desperately needed to steady the ship and complete some sets, which we did and as a result scored 18 points.

"I felt after that opening 20 minutes we controlled the game pretty well and obviously I'm delighted to be in the quarter finals."

London stunned the whole fans when Dennis Moran, Marvin Golden and Shane Millard went in for tries with Brett Warton kicking two goals.

The revival however was inspired by teenager Paul Cooke then man-of-the-match Jackson grabbed the first of his two tries as did Logan Campbell to put Hull back in the driving seat.

Matt Crowther improved all those tries and added the extras to Campbell's second early in the second half but Hull couldn't relax especially after London's new boy Michael Gillette grabbed a try with 55 minutes gone.

At that stage London looked capable of winning and coach Tony Rae said: "I was confident we could snatch the game. The turning point for me was that final Jackson try which killed us off."

Jackson's match clincher came six minutes from the end to the relief of the near 7,000 fans and Crowther made it a perfect afternoon with the boot by adding the conversion.
