Home Internationals to make return

Home internationals would be welcomed by Wales and Craig Bellamy

Plans to revive Home Internationals — without England but including the Republic of Ireland — are being discussed.

The idea is to hold the 'Celtic Cup' every two years with a knock-out round followed by a final and play-off.

The first matches are being sketched in for August 2009.

The Scottish, Welsh and two Irish associations are keen on the idea. Football Association of Wales secretary David Collins said: "If we could pull this off, the interest would be enormous."
