Hoggard scan reveals minor strain

12 April 2012

Matthew Hoggard will miss the remainder of Yorkshire's season with a small abdominal strain.

But Yorkshire physio Scott McAllister stressed that it was purely a precautionary measure and the England bowler's injury was only a minor one.

McAllister revealed that Hoggard's MRI scan had revealed no significant injury but, after continuing to feel some discomfiture, he had been withdrawn from Yorkshire's two remaining matches after consultations with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Hoggard will now rest up for a few days and the ECB will re-assess his condition at the beginning of next week.

Yorkshire play their final NatWest Pro40 League match against Hampshire at Headingley on Sunday followed by next week's final Championship game with Durham, also at Headingley.
