Higgins misses out on 147

13 April 2012

John Higgins suffered maximum agony in the Embassy World Championships at the Crucible this morning as he missed out on a share of Ronnie O'Sullivan's 147 jackpot.

The 1998 world champion was looking good to claim half of O'Sullivan's £169,000 maximum prize when he potted 15 reds and 15 blacks in the second frame of his second round match against Sean Storey.

But on potting the yellow, Higgins landed awkwardly on the green and missed it, stalling the break on 122.

The Scot has made two televised maximum breaks. His first came at the 2000 Nations Cup and was followed two months later by another 147 at the Irish Masters.
