Harmison's on the mark in big clash

Total recall: Harmison is on the brink of a return to England's XI

Steve Harmison responded to his omission from the England Test side by claiming two wickets today in the top-of-the-table County Championship clash at Trent Bridge.

The Durham spearhead, full of pace and hostility, trapped Nottinghamshire opener Matthew Wood lbw with his sixth ball of the day and then, after a lengthy rain break, he sent back Mark Wagh.

Notts all-rounder Stuart Broad, who snapped up three Durham wickets in 13.2 overs yesterday after he was dropped by England, denied asking to be rested. "I don't know where that came from, certainly not from me," said the 22-year-old. "I look forward to bowling every game."

Meanwhile, India made a flying start in the Second Test at Galle, where Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir shared an opening stand of 167 against Sri Lanka. Sehwag reached his century off 87 balls and was 128 not out at the close.
