Haaland still considering legal action

Paul Thomson13 April 2012

Alf-Inge Haaland today hinted that legal action against Roy Keane was still likely.

The Manchester City star, who has had three operations on his left knee since a horror tackle by Keane 16 months ago, has been in talks with lawyers ever since the Manchester United captain admitted in his autobiography that he deliberately targeted Haaland. The Norwegian is still anxiously awaiting medical results so he can resume playing.

He said: "I have been in Norway for a couple of days after another scan on my problem knee on Monday.

"I'm hopeful that the scan will not show up any serious relapse in my rehabilitation.

"But obviously after missing virtually all of last season I'm disappointed not to be fighting fit for the new campaign.

"There has been a lot of media speculation this week following the comments attributed to Roy Keane.

"There were also some false reports attributed to me today claiming that I will definitely not be taking legal action.

"In response to that, all I can say at the moment is that both the club and I are speaking to our advisers and the authorities.

"I will not be making any comment until this process is complete.

"In the meantime I will be concentrating on trying to get back to full fitness.

"I will not be available for the opening game this weekend, but I will be cheering on my team-mates against my old club Leeds United."
