Geraint Thomas likes doubling up with London 2012 on the horizon

Raring to go: Thomas says training for both the road and track is beneficial

Geraint Thomas says his versatility can help him at London 2012.

The Welsh cyclist won gold in the team pursuit at the 2008 Beijing Games and was the top Briton in the final standings at last month's tour de France, finishing 31st.

Although Thomas may miss next year's tour to preserve his energy for the olympics, he feels preparing for other road races next season will strengthen his bid for another gold in the team pursuit.

"The training regimes complement each other," said the 25-year-old. "the track work
definitely helps you for the sprints on the road, while the road racing gives you that strength to push the bigger gear on the track."

This week thomas is racing in the Eneco Tour in Holland where team sky colleague, new Zealand rider Greg henderson, won a stage last year. Thomas said: "Hopefully, we can do the same again."
