Fresh one-day misery for England

13 April 2012

England conceded defeat to Pakistan in the NatWest Series match which was once again marred by a pitch invasion with the tourists two runs short of victory.

Pakistan, chasing England's all-out total of 156, were heading for a six-wicket win when the trouble came at Headingley.

Azhar Mahmood hit a six, leaving Pakistan with two runs to win.

A steward was injured as spectators ran on to the pitch in a repeat of the scenes that followed Pakistan's win over England at Edgbaston.

The playing area was eventually cleared as the injured steward received treatment.

The players had retreated to the pavilion, but acting England skipper Alec Stewart went back out into the middle to assess the situation.

He returned to the pavilion and decided to concede victory in order to reduce the risk of further trouble.
