Francis linked to Royals job

14 April 2012

Trevor Francis today emerged as a surprise candidate for the vacant manager's job at Reading.

The former England striker, 49, is believed to be on a preliminary list of more than 50 candidates hoping to replace Alan Pardew.

Francis has been out of work since he was sacked by Crystal Palace last April.

Tony Adams, Glenn Hoddle and Steve Coppell have also been linked with the Reading job, while Peter Taylor has turned down an approach.

Caretaker manager Kevin Dillon recorded his first win in the Carling Cup triumph over Oxford and will be in charge for tomorrow's televised clash with Sunderland.
