Former Brighton manager Chris Hughton believes Tottenham have landed a bargain in the shape of Yves Bissouma.

The Mali international joined Spurs on Friday in a £25m deal, signing a four-year-contract to become Antonio Conte’s third addition in what has already been a busy summer.

Bissouma follows Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster through the door and Conte is keen on up to four more signings in an attempt to challenge towards the top of the Premier League during his first full season in charge, as well as compete in the Champions League.

Previously linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, Bissouma has established himself as one of the most impressive midfielders in the League over the last few years, having joined Brighton during Hughton’s time at the Amex Stadium.

A former Tottenham player and coach of course, Hughton backed the move when speaking to The Sun following its confirmation.

“What Spurs have paid - in this day and age to get a midfielder who is a good age going to a top club - it seems very good business to me,” he said.

“There is no doubt he is the type of player they are looking for.

“When you consider that they paid £63m for [Tanguy] Ndombele, it is good business - there are players going for more than that.”
